"Emotions - Installations till 2012 by Erwin Olaf"
March 21 to June 30, 2013
The Dutch artist Erwin Olaf was born in 1959 in Hilversum, Netherlands. He lives and works in Amsterdam since the 80s.
He will present several photographies and videos made between 2001 and 2012 at La Sucrière.
Over the years and series, Erwin Olaf has imposed his style and questioned the difference of class, gender, race, beauty, weight secret.
Just one look and the viewer is immersed into his particular artistic world.
The atmosphere is quiet, pensive and solitary. The treatment of color, the choice of models and sets, carry us in an unknown time between the years 60 and modernity. In Erwin Olaf’s video and photography, we feel the method and the reflection of an artist who looks, sets the scene and colors, as a painter. We are not without thinking of the great Dutch painters of the seventeenth century, such as Johannes Vermeer.
There in the Netherlands a special light and a special atmosphere for its artists are impregnated so much as they share it with us from many centuries?
With the support of The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
La Sucrière would like to thank Rabouan-Moussion Gallery for its kind-hearted collaboration.
